A fine early Austrian bronze.
statue of a beautiful young lady is mounted on a marble base.
It dates back to the Art Nouveau era and was
created by Franz Starek although not
signed. None of his works were signed. You can find smaller versions of his
bronzes in Ernst Hrabalek’s book about Vienna Bronzes.
The statue weighs two pounds. Domestic shipping is free for all
our Vienna Bronzes, regardless of size, weight and value. And it is also free
for our friends outside the U.S. if we can combine three and more. This refers
to all countries worldwide. No exceptions.
FRANZ STAREK (1886 – 1966)
He had developed a
unique design. All his ladies were about the same height with nearly identical
hair. – Like most of the other artists he got neither wealth nor glory for his
works. The payment for a few pieces of bronzes often was not more than the
counter value of a loaf of bread round the turn of the century, however, for
artists without employment, attractive enough.
