RARITY! A HUGE MOSQUE LAMP, AN IMPORTANT CREATION BY FRANZ BERGMANN.
The large and
extremely heavy gem serves as a lamp and depicts a mosque with dome and minaret
with a worshiping Muslim in his traditional attire. We attach many photos trying
to give you a near perfect impression of the elaborate dream piece which is
listed on page 187 of Joseph Zobel’s famous book ‘Antique Vienna Bronzes’
(Schiffer Publishing Ltd. - 2008), even though they do not do justice to the
Zobel appraised the lamp in 2008 for $ 25,000 – 35,000. Meanwhile the prices for such important and
highly collectible Austrian Bronzes have risen disproportionately. Despite this
fact we are able to offer a price of ca. $ 19,950 only! Indeed, a unique chance
to acquire an intriguing museums piece that you will not find again on the market.
Another example of an Orientalist bronze.
The workshop created
the bronze with perfect attention to the detail, which is absolutely
breathtaking. Everything has been masterly crafted, painstakingly handmade and
hand painted by highly skilled craftsmen and women of one of the best
workshops they had in Vienna.
There are some minor
flaws that we could detect, like a missing screw in the top part of the
minaret; the hanging lantern inside is hung by three chains, one of the chains
is disconnected; the little part on top of the minaret is missing (compare with
Zobel’s photo). Nothing serious and hardly noticeable.
The condition is
very good considering the age. Even the glass of the windows are perfectly intact.
Feel free to contact
us if you need additional photos or information.
Impressive ca. 28 3/4 “ (73 cm
cm) tall, 12.1/4” (31 cm) wide and 7 “ (18 cm) deep.
Good with just
paint losses. Original paint, no restoration, no repairs, no touch ups!

A different one
This is a rare
antique cold painted Vienna or Wiener Bronze cast in the traditional lost wax
technique (called ‘cire perdue’) by FRANZ BERGMANN the
renowned workshop that created great pieces with the highest quality level and
the best collectors and resale value!
Other outstanding works were signed “Nam Greb” (Bergmann
spelled backwards). These marks were
used to disguise his identity on erotic works.
Another great example
or repair of items
requests from our buyers, we normally do not clean, polish, touch up or repair
any item. However, we guarantee the condition as described. Many buyers prefer
to finish items that need a finish their own way, or just leave it the way they
has still the old wiring and needs to be rewired.
Remember that domestic shipping is free for all our Vienna
Bronzes, regardless of size, weight and value. The lamp is very heavy with ca. 25 pounds!
