A great old Austrian bronze.
Here
we have one of the rare gilt table lamps in good condition
Depicting
an Austrian peasant boy resting under a tree and spending his time with carving
something. You can see some shavings on his pants.
The
spot in front of the boy looks like having served as a pin dish.
The
heavy solid lamp must have been sculptured by an excellent artist, even though
there is no signature other than ‘AUSTRIA’ which was quite often the case. Just
a few made it and could leave the anonymous group of sculptors and became
famous, like Peter Tereszczuk, Carl Kauba, Bruno Zach, just to mention a
few names.
Remember
that domestic shipping is free for all our Vienna Bronzes, regardless of size,
weight and value. And it is also free for our friends outside the U.S. if we
can combine three and more. This refers to all countries worldwide. No
exceptions. This sculpture is very heavy.

We
strongly recommend rewiring the lamp which has still an old cord and plug. No safety guarantee because of its age.
