A beautiful early Austrian bronze dog.
A
great sculptor must have created our wonderful Spitz.
The vast majority of the Austrian sculptors
are long forgotten. Only a few became famous. The dog was masterfully created
absolutely lifelike and the characteristics of the Spitz were captured realistically
in solid bronze and highlighted by a skilled, mostly academically educated,
painter.
Enlarge the thumbnails and discover the
difference between the solid work from old Austria and the many knock-offs that
you see these days. Our collectors know that we guarantee the authenticity of
the gems we offer.
At the turn to the last century they had
about fifty to eighty workshops. Greedy sellers offering fakes love to describe
most of their items as products of Bergmann, probably the only foundry of which
they heard of, and even spell the name wrongly.
