Prater - Old Vienna amusement park
This large extremely rare antique Austrian bronze is a very
good example of our general attitude.
|
A company, who offers all kinds of modern collectibles,
sells new bronzes, sometimes with less quality and not the old paint. Right
now they offer such a new piece at a much higher price than the antique one
from one of the best workshops (Franz Bergmann passed already away in 1936!).
They ask for $ 4950 and we, the Vienna Bronze Gallery, about $ 1000 cheaper!

Here we have a true Austrian
masterpiece, a fully functioning Merry-Go-Round with six happy animals.
It is beautifully hand painted with Alpine
scenes and flowers as seen in the old days on real carousels or in
museums like Ringling. Many photos and close ups have been shot to show you as
much of the stunning detail as possible, but they do not do justice to the
original piece. Don't forget that the thumbnails can be enlarged.
The merry-go-round spins and serves at the same time as a great music
box. There is build in a Swiss movement by Reuge, which is not produced anymore since a long time . You turn the top clockwise to
wind it up, it begins to move and you can listen to one of the famous Austrian waltzes
(Blue Danube) of Johann Strauss, one of the great sons of this country.
No doubt, this heirloom is a true museums piece in astonishing good working
condition. It must have spent all the time in a curio cabinet.
Most of of the six delightful animals carry something typical for
carnivals in their hands/paws, like a party whistle, a big lolly, an ice
cone, and a colorful ball.
Remember
that domestic shipping is free for all our Vienna Bronzes, regardless of size,
weight and value. And it is also free for our friends outside the U.S. if we
can combine three and more. This refers to all countries worldwide. No
exceptions. The sculpture is very heavy!
