A fabulous example
from the Austrian Art Nouveau period, influenced by the Viennese secession
movement.
Here we have two
exceptional candlesticks made of copper and brass, a typical combination of the
period. The design is fascinating and represents the zeitgeist, when artistic
utensils, often by famous designers, were created
for the general public. They called it ‘angewandte Kunst’ or ‘applied arts’.
It is relatively rare to
find a pair in good condition after such a long time.
